Troubleshooting Instagram Connection
Troubleshoot your Instagram connection with Creasquare
If you encounter any problems while adding an Instagram account, check the following solutions to resolve them.
Ensuring your Instagram account is set up
The following steps are mandatory in order to properly set up your instagram account and connect it to Creasquare.
Set up of your Instagram Business profile
All Instagram accounts start out as Personal by default, but you can convert them to a Business account at any time so that it works with Creasquare. See Add an Instagram connection to find out more.
To access all the Instagram features available in Creasquare, you need an Instagram Business profile connected to a Facebook Page. This is a requirement from Instagram (which Meta owns).
Set up of your Facebook page
To access all the Instagram features available in Creasquare, your Business profile must be connected to a Facebook Page. Because Facebook owns Instagram, the permissions to manage your Instagram profile are granted to Creasquare through Facebook. You donât need to publish to the Facebook Page when you use Instagram with Creasquare. Only one Instagram profile can be connected to a Facebook Page and vice versa.
If you need to create a new Page, follow Facebook's help article How do I create a Facebook Page?
Set up the required Admin or Editor role on the Facebook Page
You need an Admin or Editor role on a Classic Page type or Facebook access with full control or partial control on a New Page type. See Facebook's help article How do I see what my role is on a Facebook Page? for more information. Only Page Admins can manage roles. See Facebook's help article How do I manage roles for my Facebook Page? to learn more.
If you have made the changes to get the appropriate role on the Page, but are still getting errors that say you need to be an admin, please check out the next help items.
Your Facebook Page may be an asset in Facebook Business Manager
If your businessâ Facebook Page is an asset in a Business Manager account, you need management access to it in that account as well.
How to connect your Instagram business account to your Facebook page?
To connect your Instagram Business profile to your Facebook Page, you need to access the Pageâs settings on Facebook. For detailed information, please see Add an Instagram connection for instructions.
Troubleshoot issues with Instagram business connection
When connecting a Business profile, you may encounter one of the following issues after signing in to Facebook.
You havenât linked your Instagram business profile to a Facebook Page
This error can mean one of 3 following problems:
You donât have an Instagram account connected to your Facebook Page. You need to connect the Instagram account to your Facebook Page
The Instagram account connected to the Page is a Personal profile. You need to change your profile type to a Business account.
You have connected an Instagram Business profile to your Facebook Page, but either Instagram or Facebook still requires you to confirm the connection. This can happen when you first link both accounts together. You need to confirm the connection (see below).
Your Page role are not admin or editor to add the Instagram profile
You may see this error because you havenât been provided with the Administrator or Editor role for the Page. If you do have an Admin or Editor role on a Classic Page type, check to see if the Page may be managed in Business Manager. To check this, look out for the briefcase next to the page roleâs profile picture. If your page is managed in Business Manager, you will also need full management access to the Page in the Business Manager account. We know it is complicated, but thatâs how Facebook does it!
Your Facebook Page is not appearing in the list of accounts you can add Creasquare
You need to make sure that the Facebook account youâve connected to on Creasquare, is the right account that manages the Page. Creasquare automatically connects to any social accounts youâre currently signed in to, so you wonât be asked for a specific email and password.
For example, if you use Facebook in your browser, close the tab without signing out, and then later sign in to Creasquare, Creasquare detects and automatically connects to that Facebook account.
If you donât know or donât understand which account is connected thanks to the list of Pages displayed, follow this procedure:
Open another browser tab, go to Facebook, and sign out.
Then return to Creasquare and restart the process of adding an Instagram Business profile. You should now be able to enter the correct Facebook account credentials.
A Page may not appear if Creasquare doesnât have the permissions to manage it yet. Check the permissions in your Facebook account's Business Integration settings:
Open a new browser window and sign in to Facebook. Then use this direct link to go to your accountâs business integrations: https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=business_tools
Select View and edit next to Creasquare.
Scroll through the information to each place where your Pages are listed and make sure all Pages are selected. If you don't see any lists of Pages in your settings, it means that they may all already be selected. See also Facebook's help article How do I edit the privacy settings for my business integrations?
Return to Creasquare and resume adding your Instagram account.
Creasquare is connecting to the wrong Instagram or Facebook account
Before adding an Instagram profile or setting up direct publishing, open a new web browser tab, and log out of both Instagram and Facebook. Then go back to Creasquare and proceed. You should now be able to connect to the correct account.
If you use the same login for multiple accounts on Instagram, you need to create a unique password for each one before adding them to Creasquare:
Go to Instagram, enter the Instagram login as the username, and then click on âForgot passwordâ.
Use the login and unique password to add your Instagram profile to Creasquare.
How to add users to your Business Manager ?
Once you have confirmed the link between your Instagram Business and Facebook page, you may see one of the following error:
âThe Facebook Page youâve tried to add is already owned by another business. You can still request access to this Page, but your request will need to be approved by the owner of that Business.â
âYou have to be an administrator of the associated Pageâs business in Business Manager to confirm the Instagram account.â
These messages mean that the Facebook Page is linked to a Business Manager account, so you need full management role access to it on the Business Manager site as well. An Admin of the Business Manager account needs to add you to the business and assign the Page as one of your business assets using the following instructions. See also Facebook's help article Add People to Your Business Manager.
In a new browser tab, use this direct link to sign in to the settings of your Facebook Business Manager account: https://business.facebook.com/settings
Select âPeopleâ under âUsersâ on the left sidebar, and then select âAdd a new userâ.
Enter the userâs email, give them a business role, and click Next.
Select âPagesâ, select the specific Page you want to add, and then select Manage Page.
Select Invite.
Confirm you have the correct access in Business Manager:
In a new browser tab, use this direct link to sign in to your Facebook Business Manager account settings: https://business.facebook.com/settings
Select People under Users, and then select your name from the People list.
Verify that under your Assigned Assets you can see the Facebook Page connected to your Instagram Business profile.
Select the arrow next to the Page to view your permissions for the Page. Make sure that the last toggle, Manage Page, is turned on.

Now you can finally add your Instagram Business account!
How to confirm the connection between Instagram and Facebook ?
When adding an Instagram Business account to Creasquare, itâs common for Creasquare to display âThere is no Instagram business profile linked to this Facebook Page,â even when your Instagram account seems to be connected in its Facebook Pageâs settings.
This is because either Instagram or Facebook still requires you to confirm the connection between Instagram and Facebook. You should find one of the following prompts on either your Facebook Page or in your Instagram app:
How to check that your Instagram account is linked to its Facebook page:
In a new browser page, sign in to your Facebook account.
Select Pages in the sidebar, and then select the Page.
Select the Settings at the bottom of the left menu.
Select Instagram from the Page Settings menu. You may be prompted to review your accountâs Connection.
If you do see Review Connection, follow the steps to complete the flow. You might be done after completing this step, or you might see another message that requires further steps. This is up to Facebook.
